Beginning in January, the Northern Community Internet site will have a new feature, eight-week long series of news stories focused on one issue important to people in northern Minnesota. The first focus will be on the impact of the economic downturn on local people and businesses. Future issues will be chosen based on their importance to people in the region.

The project is funded by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting which will pay for the first four eight-week series. The goal is to raise money from community businesses and readers to sustain future series.
